GR5 ELI Titanium Bar

Gr5 eli (Gr23) titanium bar is the most common medical use titanium material，as per the standard of ASTM F136. Compared with ordinary industrial GR5 titanium rods (according to standard ASTM B348), GR5 ELI medical titanium rods have higher requirements for impurities ,such as Fe,N,H,O , which are lower than those of industrial grade titanium rods. However, the tensile strength and elongation of medical titanium rods are lower than those of industrial titanium rods.

Titanium - Aerospace Applications

Titanium is used in engine applications such as rotors, compressor blades, hydraulic system components and nacelles. Titanium 6AL-4V alloys make up nearly 50% of all alloys used in aircraft applications.

Titanium alloys are used in aircraft, armor plates, naval vessels, spacecraft, and missiles due to their high tensile strength-to-density ratio, high corrosion resistance, and ability to withstand moderately high temperatures without creep. For these applications, titanium alloyed with aluminum, vanadium, and other elements is used in a variety of components, including critical structural components, firewalls, landing gear, exhaust pipes (helicopter), and hydraulic systems. In fact, about two-thirds of titanium production is used in aircraft engines and frames.

Titanium is used in many sporting goods: tennis rackets, golf clubs, lacrosse shafts, cricket, hockey, lacrosse and football helmet grilles, and bicycle frames and components. Titanium alloys are also used in eyeglass frames. The two most commonly used titanium alloys in the bicycle industry are 6AL-4V (grade 5) and 3AI-2.5V (grade). Both of these different alloys are high-strength titanium, which is common in the industry.

Titanium - Medical Applications

Because it is biocompatible (non-toxic and not repelled by the body), titanium is used in different medical applications, including surgical instruments and implants, such as hip balls and sockets (joint replacements), that maintain their original Bit up to 20 years. Titanium has inherent properties of osseointegration and can be used in dental implants that can last for over 30 years. This property can also be used in orthopaedic implant applications.
